OVERLOOK ENTRY ADDITION
Solving the problem: where’s the front door?
Come On In
Owned by a young couple, a 1980s kit log home situated on top of a hill in Andes, NY is missing a distinguishable front entry. Visitors to the home never know how to enter from the driveway, and the owners have no real direct connection from the home to their car. Sometime in the course of the home’s life, previous owners added a sunroom on the east side of the home. Over time, neglect has rendered the sunroom a bit dingy but a great location for a new entry.
The new entry uses the existing concrete foundation of the old sunroom, but expands the footprint to the east by a few feet in order to give the space multiple uses. Situated right off the kitchen, the new entryway is to also act as a small reading and gathering space with extraordinary views of the Catskill Mountains to the east.
The project is currently in design and expected to be complete in summer 2021.
